The Hand
Michael Caine stars in this 1970's film and I'm not quite sure about it. Caine plays a comic writer with a child and wife who wants to leave him. On leaving their secluded house in the forest and leaving for the city, they are invloved in a car accident ansd Caine loses his hand. Unforunatly it is his writing hand! He goes back to the secluded forest hut minus his wife and daughter and because of his missing limb, he is unable to write for the comic. For some reason, his hand comes back to life! I think maybe this is meant to be a symbol of his frustration and anger, but the hand goes round killing people! It's an OK film - worth watching once
Halloween
Of course, this is a classic film and we all get some tingles when we hear the music! Jamie Lee Curtis is meant to be a sex symbol, but I think that's scary in itself. Michael Myers murdered his baby sitter as a child and has remained in a mental home till is adult life. But alas, he escapes one halloween and hides wating in the abandoned house where he commited the murder. He stalks Curtis and her friends who live on the street and slices them up with his knife. She puts up the fight and a police officer helps to kill him. But, after being stabbed with a knitting needle, a coat-hanger, being thrown out of the window and shot several times - he doesn't die! But it's ok, it's a 70's horror film. Good film to watch, it has an eerie 'there's someone watching me!' feeling.

Bit repeatative, but watchable. They are all sort of the same , but each have their own charms!
The Haunting
I could watch this film, over and over because I find it very enchanting. It's set in a massive old haunted house - which I love the atmosphere. A set of people have been sent up to the house in order to do a study to cure them being insomniacs. However, it is really an experiment to see what effect a 'ghost legend' has on them. The psychologist gives them a story of the house and he studies them to see if they make out a whole imagined ghost out of it. However, there i something much more sinister in the house than just a legend. The effects are extremely good - amazing computer graphics and the story is captivating. I love it!

Hellraiser

Gore Fest? Hell yes! Uncle Frank solves the mystery of a chinmesse puzzle box and enters the world of the cenobites and Pinhead is leader(why does he wear a dress?) - hell. Here, pain is pleasure and sticking fish hooks in people's faces and ripping their skin off is just wholesome fun. Frank is then brought back to life by his brother Larry's spilt blood and needs more human flesh to restore himself; his brother's wife helps him to do by seducing and sacrificing men. Can Kirsty, Larry's daughter send the cenobites, her stepmother and Frank back to hell? The first three Hellraisers are extemely gory and have many disgusting scenes. It is a must for gore fans!!!

2 Hellbound
Pinhead is back and still hasn't changed his dress. Kirsty is in a mental institute after the horrific experiences of the first Hellraiser - of course no one believes the teenage girl! A doctor at the asylum has a secret passion for the occult and the dark side and has the blood stained matress that Kirsty's stepmother was killed on and brings her back to life. Together, they solve the puzzle of the box to open the gateway of hell - eating a few people along the way. Teamed with some friends from the mental home, Kirsty has to try and save earth from eternal hell and venture into the dark side again. This is also a well directed film, with more blood and sick images than the last one. The cenobobites are quite grotesque.

The opening scene is a TV reporter watching a boy in hospital being torn apart by chains. After this she seeks the truth by looking for a girl that also witnessed it. The club owner has a grotesque statue with pinhead's face on it. He starts to come back to life but needs more flesh. Gradually, the cenobites are back and have transformed more humans into revolting cenobites. The TV reporter has the box and has to solve how to send the cenobites back to hell, with a little help from Pinheads 'normal' self, spirit. This is another good film, that suprisingly isn't repeatative. I found the scene where she is running through the streets with the cenobites after her quite eerie as Clive Barker has invented some more monstorous creatures.

This isn't as good as the other three, but still quite entertaining. It's about the decendents of John Le Merchant , the man who crafted the puzzle box for a twisted evil occult master. But hang on, the first Hellraiser says that it's an ancient chinese box! Oh well, Pinhead's back to find the last of the decendents. Finally, the last man suceeds in trapping the cenobites in a complex light trap in space. So, why is there a Hellraiser 5?? It isn't as scary but good (kids hair cut is scary) except the scene where the two twins get 'joined' is quite gruesome. Worth a look!

Don't bother getting this!! It hasn't a story line and isn't scary - has a few slightly disturbing images. Slightly boring and confusing and Pin head and the cenobites aren't in it.
Hemoglobin
Quite a good film. It is about a couple that seek a remote island in search for information about the man's decendants. He has a rare blood disease and the only hope for him is to find out any information about his real family. The first woman in his line of ancestors, committed incest with her twin brother and when they had children they moved into hiding. After all these years, the family are still living underground on the island, all deformed and mutated - surviving by eating the corpses in the local cemetary. The rare blood disease is a need to have hemoglobin (blood), and when villaers discover the underground society and the fact that they have killed a few humans, they hunt them down. When watching the incest scene, note that the twin brother is actually also played by the twin sister - hmmm. Not much blood rating, but entertaining.

Horror in the Attic
I found this quite entertaining. It's all a bit bizarre and hard to understand, but I think that's the point of a psychological horror. A young man awakes from a comma in a mental home not knowing who he is. He is told that he murdered his fiance and is shipped off to a place called the 'House of Love' - for mental patients. He has a brain implant which the doctors are using to cause hallucinations and the other people in the home are infact actors. Though, it's very twisted it's quite intriguing. . . .
House by
the Cemetary
A family moves to a house by a cemetary, although the small boy is warned telapthically not to go there by a girl in the town. There's the zombie of the professor who lived there in the basement! He kills quite a few people quite nicely. It's quite watchable but mainly laughable. The kid is more scary than the zombie. It has the typical mum who tries to get her son out of a locked door by banging on it and turning the handle repeatablyfor five minutes while there is an axe right beside her. A very un-realistic bat attack scene, but it's quite watchable - blood count, relatively good.
Oh god, PLease... get it away!

House of
Wax
This film IS only a PG certificate suprisingly, but it has quite a lot of suspence. It's one of Vincent Price's first films and is good for it's time. Price plays a man who makes wax models and his 'agent' sets fire to his beloved models in an attempt to get insurance money. He is badly scarred after the fire, and goes around killing people and using their dead bodies as his models in the chamber of horrors. It has a good story line and the old sets make it have a good atmosphere. Although it doesn't have any blood and gore, it is definetly worth a look I bought it from Amazon!

House on Haunted Hill
One my favourite films - a rare modern film that is actually any good, though it is a remake. Several people are invited up to a party at a gigantic, strange looking building on the edge of the sea. They are told that if they stay one night in the building, they win one million dollars. The building used to be a sanitorium where the doctors wern't too nice to the mental patients! The staff and patients had been killed by being trapped in the building by the mechanical 'shutters', locking them in. Anyway, strange things happen to the congreagation when they are locked in by the massive mechanical workings of the old building. Ghosts terorise them, and you find out why the people were selected. The idea of the film is interesting, it has an up to pace story line and has a very eerie atmosphere. Images of hospitals reminds me of the game 'silent hill'.This is HIGHLY recommened - watch it over and over!

The
Howling
Bit slow to warm up. It is about a female reporter that tracks down a criminal/pervert and meets him face to face. Something horrific happened when he revealed his identity that she just can't remember; what was it about seeing his face? In order to forget the horror of what happened that night, she seeks refuge with few friends at a haven in the woods. Of course, just happens that all the regulars there are werewolves - it's very noisy at night! Her and her husband have to kill them and escape. It's relatively entertaining - good if you like werewolves!

This has to be the WORST film that I have ever seen and that's including every genre! I can't tell you what the plot is about, because it doesn't appear to have one. It is seriously one of those films that has a number of relatively famous people in, and that tries to compensate for everything else. The whole film seems to be shot on a hand held video camera (though I don't imagine that is what they wanted to achieve) and has the most confusing plot ever. When you are waiting for something to happen, it doesn't and then the film ends. This is definitley the poorest film ever seen - nothing happens but it's very long (Or does it just feel like it?).
